Along The Morganford

Defying the elements of our current weather, I decided to get out for a walk before it hit 90 degrees !

I came across a trail counter ! very interesting! Did you know the trail group will have over 600 miles of trails along the riverways, west of the Mississippi ?

A few other photos from the trail today!

Have a great day!

Keep cool !

The True Meaning of Life

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit. - Nelson Henderson

Using several photo apps in the iPhone I was able to alter the photo below into the photo above. Along with a few variations along the way.

Very fun! This was on Juniata St. near Morgan Ford Rd.

Autumn : its tone is more mellow.

I like spring, but it is too young.

I like summer, but it is too proud.

So I like autumn best of all, because its tone is more mellow, its colours are richer, and it is tinged with a little sorrow

Its golden richness speaks not of the innocence of spring, nor the power of summer, but of the mellow and kindly wisdom of approaching age.

It knows the limitations of life and it is content.

Bittersweet October

Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.

Trees of the Wood have the greatest dignity

Of the infinite variety of fruits which spring from the bosom of the earth, the trees of the wood are the greatest in dignity.

Susan Fenimore Cooper

Technically, these aren't trees if the wood, but "volunteers" along a Greenway in a very urban setting.

My walking continues and am anxious to see how the light will change, as well as the flora and fauna, along my regular route. Just above is my original photo and throughout are my various edits. Photoshop Express, Infinicam , instagram, photo studio, pic grunger and camera bag....among others!

I snap pictures with my iPhone and still try to maintain a 20 minute walking mile. My husband has seen me along the way as he is driving by from his parents and asks questions like", What were you doing, peeking around in that guy 's shrubbery?".

Well, I was trying to get a shot of the Cardinal. I missed it, he was shy.

I don't recommend walking and editing photos, but I confess I do. Remember to be aware if your surroundings, ( people lurking in the shrubbery?Hopefully not!) Look both ways when crossing streets, and watch for uneven sidewalks.

Autumn in St. Louis

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
- George Eliot

Continuing my walking, blogging and photo-ing, along Morgan Ford and The River Des Peres Parkway. The iPhone is the best craft/art tool I have ever purchased. Just added a few more photo apps. Hey, a better use of $2, I'm missing a few craft magazines and scrapping paper, and less clutter in the house. ( Note: I said "less").

I'm up to 3+ miles, at least 5 times per week, in just over an hour ( not counting the photo ops, edit ops and posting ops.) Ok, sometimes it takes two hours. Hey, I'm soaking up the Vitamin D and getting exercise and missing a few NCIS reruns. So what.
